The purpose of creating OUT was to grow and test my 3D skills by creating a finished short film that met Sheridan College’s animation thesis guidelines. I was successful in my goals for OUT, but the Neem rig was not meant for that story.
Neem was meant for my first idea, which turned to be too ambitious for a first project as a new 3D artist. Once I realized I needed to save that idea for the future, I built other stories around Neem because I did not want to give up on the opportunity to build and bring life to my own 3D character. And so here is —
What could have been…
…a sort of behind the scenes…
The Neem Rig was meant to be used for a darker story about child marriage.
This story was based on a poem I wrote, set in a fictional world where a South Asian girl lives in a palace of her creation and the palace eventually turns against her.
Here is some very rough and introductory explorations of that idea with an early version of the Neem Rig.

Below is some behind the scenes for Calico Chrome, the first iteration of my current film, a more surreal take on it.
It is the same concept of a woman seeking retreat in nature, except there is no real nature, only the simulated experience of it in a cold, chrome world.
—————
In the end, I adjusted the Calico Chrome film idea and boiled it down to — OUT, a short about a woman seeking retreat in nature.
Is all.
